Cliven Bundy Racist Remarks Show Racism Is Mental Illness

Cliven Bundy Racist Remarks show racism is a mental illness.

Cliven Bundy's racist remarks came during a press conference he was holding because he's held an armed standoff against the Federal Bureau of Land Management over grazing rights on federal land. But during the press conference, the 67-year-old Nevada cattle rancher got excited over all the attention he was getting and contracted diarrhea of the mouth, and just let the dumness flow.

In so doing, Cliven Bundy remarked that blacks were either on welfare or sitting on a stoop and doing nothing, or in jail, and wondered if African Americans were better off still in slavery.

It's a round of home-spun commentary that I've had the not-pleasurable experience of being aware of before. I've come to the conclusion that folks like Cliven Bundy are exhibiting mental illness.

They don't get that they're being racist, and so don't see, or care, that the black person's feelings may be hurt, let alone that the point of view is not true. So, I just have come to regard such commentary as white noise, and no, I don't refer to skin color.

Cliven Bundy obviously needs help, but I don't care, nor do I feel sorry for him.

Some have said that he was "showing concern" for blacks, but what those people don't understand is that kind of view is also racist: thinking that every black person is less than that white person, and needs help.

By contrast, if the subject was some white guy with a tech idea, someone would say he's not a person asking for money, but a tech entrepreneur. Think about it.

That Cliven Bundy's name hit the top of Twitter trends on Thursday is telling, but I'm not sure of what. But given the tweets, I am happy to report that a lot of white folks don't share his opinion, even on social media! YIPPEE!!

Believe it or not, that's great, major progress.
